Community Walking Club Mon/Tues/Thurs April 18- November 17, 2016
Join us and explore the beautiful trails of Palmer Park, connect with new friends and thrive in healthy fun. Walking Coordinator, Latricia Wright leads walkers on a 50 minute guided tour through the trails. All are welcome. Feel free to join for an experience that is sure to leave a lasting impression.
Location: Meet up in front of Splash Park. The walking group will be held indoors beginning in the Fall.
Enjoy riding (weather permitting) with a fun group of cyclists around the periphery of the park, through the neighborhoods of Palmer Park Apartment District, the Golf Club neighborhood, Ferndale, New Center, Boston Edison, and more.
Henry Ford II leads cyclists on a spirited "fitness pace" of 10-15mph and tries to keep it to just one hour each week.
T’ai Chi is an internal Chinese martial art practiced for both its defense training and its health benefits. Medical research has found evidence that t’ai chi is helpful for improving balance and for general psychological health.
Peter Guenther teaches two FREE sessions starting in the Spring and continuing through to Fall. All levels welcome to join us.
Location: Northwest corner of Palmer Park at Ponchartrain and 7 Mile, just west of the Police Station
Outdoor free yoga classes for all skill levels will be held on Saturday mornings beginning late Spring through Summer. We will add extra Saturday morning classes in September to make up for classes cancelled due to rain.
Location: Lawn near Splash Park parking lot, in front of the community garden.
Splash Park Open NOW! In August of 2013, thanks to the generosity of Lear Corporation and support from the City of Detroit, the Palmer Park Splash Park replaced the non-functional pool on the west side of the park, which had been closed for many years. Open during the summer months, the splash park is motion-censored and will be programmed to turn on at 10:00 am, and automatically shut off at 10:00 pm, when Palmer Park closes.
Location: On west side of the park off Merrill Plaisance, between McNichols and 7 Mile Rds.
