Donations Will Help Continue People for Palmer Park’s Tennis Programming

The USTA Southeastern Michigan District and the Midwest Youth Tennis & Education Foundation (MYTEF) have selected People for Palmer Park and its Palmer Park Tennis Academy for the 2015 MY Gift to Kids Tennis fundraising campaign taking place Oct. 1-31.  MYTEF’s campaign is designed to help raise support for local junior tennis programs throughout the USTA/Midwest Section.

The Palmer Park Tennis Academy (PPTA), along with 9 other junior tennis programs from the USTA/Midwest Section, were selected based on their support and use of tennis to positively influence youth in their respective communities.  The MY Gift to Kids Tennis annual fundraiser calls on tennis and community supporters alike to make monetary donations toward their local tennis program.  Junior programs often rely on volunteers and donations to help maintain and grow the services they provide to youth in their communities.

HOW TO DONATE!
To make a donation or to learn more about People for Palmer Park and its tennis programming visit the Midwest Youth Tennis and Education Foundation online at www.midwesttennisfoundation.com/mygift.

More details about each of the 10 programs selected for the fundraiser are online.  Donations will be taken Oct. 1-31 and 100% of all donations go directly to the program.  Donations could also help the program receive additional money from the Midwest Youth Tennis and Education Foundation.

About Palmer Park Tennis Academy

Palmer Park Tennis Academy (PPTA) is offered through the People for Palmer Park, a non-profit organization committed to the “preservation, recreation, and revitalization of Palmer Park, for the good of all.”  The tennis academy began as a program for kids age 10 and under in 2011 with 35 children participating.  The program now has approximately 100 participants each summer, with nearly 30 children continuing through the winter at a nearby tennis club.  Realizing the need for tennis programming for older children, PPTA added programs for teens and for those kids continuing to improve their game.

Funds are needed to keep registration costs low, enabling the organization to reach more inner city children.  Money will also be used to support new instructors needed for growing programs.

About the Midwest Youth Tennis and
Education Foundation

Founded in 1992 as the charitable arm of the USTA/Midwest Section, the Midwest Youth Tennis and Education Foundation has been supporting communities, programs and individuals to provide greater educational opportunities for youth. The Foundation places emphasis on programs and activities that provide youth with a positive, fun and disciplined environment to learn the game of tennis - and create alternatives to negative recreation.
